For United Nigeria, We need Leaders that are determined - OSIBANJO

 With the challenges affecting the country at this time, there is a need for proactive leaders who are prepared to bring Nigerians together.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. 

Osinbajo made this known in Lagos state on Sunday, June 13, during a courtesy visit to the palace of Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal. 

The monarch commended the vice president for paying him a visit despite his tight schedule as the number two citizen of the country.

 

This view was expressed by vice president Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, in Lagos at the weekend during a courtesy visit to the palace of Oniru of Iruland, His Royal majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, on the occasion of the monarch’s initial enthronement anniversary.

Commending the Oba for being a front-runner to individuals of various socio-ethnic backgrounds, Prof. Osinbajo said, “our country wants all the leaders, the most effective leaders, the foremost proactive leaders, leaders ready to bring the country along. Lagos may be a model of Federal Republic of Nigeria, everyone is here, if things compute well here, things are going to be okay within the country.

Addressing the Oniru directly the VP ascertained that “I am positive your role here is that of somebody who brings along communities not simply Yorubas, however everyone. And that i can see that from your selection of chiefs, you have gone to different parts, and that I suppose this can be the perspective of nice leaders.”
While praying for the Oba for an undefeated reign on the throne, the vice president aforementioned the progress of his kingdom and its individuals are going to be determined by the standard of leadership he provides, that may be a yardstick to measure the role of ancient rulers within the country.

His words: “you ought to understand that you are forever in my prayers because i believe that your role is crucial not only for the development of this state, but for the total country.

“Today you can not relegate ancient rulers owing to the exposure and education of these who occupy that position.”

On his part, the Oniru of Iruland thanked the VP for his leadership and commitment to the progress of the country.

While pledging the support of the complete kingdom for the federal, the Oba said the Vice President’s leadership is associate example for different leaders across the country to follow, noting that “you are a front-runner whose direction we are going to still follow”.

His words: “the relationship between the vice president and i had been terribly cordial. We tend to belong to the same college of thought. He calls and advises me on many problems.

“I need to assure you, mister vice president that I'll not disappoint you, I will be able to ensure the progress of this kingdom and that I will be simply.”

Also speaking later in associate interview with journalists at the palace, Prof. Osinbajo said the future of Iruland is bright with an Oniru like Oba Abdulwasiu.

“I have known the Oniru for quite some time now. He's someone who I even have a good deal of respect for, and that i understand that the future of this community is bright with an Oniru like himself.

“He isn't just somebody who is totally educated but a visionary. He is somebody who sees the future and is prepared in making certain that he brings the future in a terribly and very short time,” the VP added.
